Rampant Locks In Loucasso as Grima Eyes Career High

The first slot for this year’s $1.5 million TAB Eureka to be held at Tabcorp Park Menangle on November 21 has been filled by Rampant Standardbreds who have selected boom three-year-old Loucasso to represent them.

Trained in Sydney by Seaton Grima and raced by a large syndicate of owners headed by Aaron Bain Racing and Summit Bloodstock, Loucasso has for the past few months been installed as the pre-post favourite for the Eureka in TAB early markets and has firmed further after producing two electric performances at Menangle an also after the announcement of his slot confirmation.

Shortly after his Eureka placement was finalised, Loucasso’s trainer, driver said that he was over the moon to hear the news and was confident that he has his colt on the right path heading into the world’s richest race.

“It has been our goal to gain a slot in the Eureka since the colt was sent to me,” said Grima.

“Obviously it will be the biggest race that I have ever driven in and will be such a thrill.”

“Deep down we always felt confident that we would secure a slot, but to have it all signed and sealed takes some pressure off and now we can plot a path towards the race.”

“The horse has a great ownership group, and the boys at Rampant are all highly renowned participants that put a lot into the sport.”

“It would be awesome if we could get them something back in return by winning this rich feature.”

A victory in the race would also be a step in the right direction for Rampant Standardbreds which is made up of a combination of people who have been long term participants in the sport.

They have pooled resources together to form an owning and breeding enterprise with Rampant being launched by leviathan Southern Highlands based owner Glenn Holland who operates the business alongside fellow prominent owner Michael Boots, leading Goulburn trainer, driver Brad Hewitt and Josh Stapelton who is one of Hewitt’s best mates and a long-term client of his stable.

Rampant will stand five stallions for the upcoming breeding season, three pacers and two trotters headlined by million-dollar earner, Australian bred Captains Knock who is a son of champion sire Captaintreacherous.

Trotting Interdominion winner The Locomotive and American imports Legendary Hanover, Monte Miki and Back Of The Neck will stand alongside Captains Knock.
