TAB Eureka smashes crowd and turnover records
A RECORD crowd and significant wagering growth has underlined the vital importance of the $2.1mil TAB Eureka in Australian harness racing.
Last Saturday night’s third running of the world’s richest race saw the largest Menangle crowd since the official opening of the new home of Sydney harness racing in 2008.
While final wagering figures are still being collated, the early results show an increase of almost 15 per cent YoY per race across the eight-race card, compared to nine races held last year.

Queensland’s Grant Dixon has three runners in Saturday’s $2.1M TAB Eureka at Menangle as he chases his first win in the world’s richest harness race.
Dixon will drive Fate Awaits ($11, gate 3), with Path To Greatness ($19, Robbie Morris) and Call To Order ($34, Adam Sanderson) also lining up.
All three are owned by Kevin and Kay Seymour, who have finished second in both previous Eurekas. Dixon says his two three-year-olds are his best hope.

Zavitsanos and wife, Jo, ended months of speculation when they settled on untapped three-year-old Fox Dan to fly their flag in Saturday’s $2.1mil TAB Eureka at Menangle.
“We bred Fox Dan and his mum, Jodila, was the first harness horse I ever raced,” Zavitsanos said. “I paid $22,000 for her at the yearling sales and called her Jodila from a combination of my wife's name (Joanna) and my youngest daughter, who we called ‘Dila’.
