Eureka Watch - Glitter Aint Gold
WONDER kid Jett Turnbull is happy to wait a month or so for the ultimate 18th birthday present.
Turnbull, who has the whole of Australian harness racing talking with his stunning and immediate impact, has his sights set on being part of the world’s richest race, the $2.1mil TAB Eureka, with much improved four-year-old Glitter Aint Gold.
“Freshly turned 18 (last Friday) and driving in the world’s richest race on a horse your Dad (Nathan Turnbull) trains … now that’s a birthday present and a half,” he said.
“If he gets in, and I think he’s done enough to grab some serious attention, I’m sure he’d give it a real shake, too.”
Glitter Aint Gold has been a revelation over the past 12 months since being purchased by clients of Nathan Turnbull for just $20,000.
He’s raced 18 times for seven wins, four seconds and two thirds and banked over $150,000.
The biggest wins came in May when Glitter Aint Gold completed the big NSW Regional (Western) final and Statewide final double – both were $100,000 races.
“That main final was at the same track (Menangle) and distance (2300m) at the TAB Eureka,” Turnbull said.
“He’s the real deal this horse, just look how well he ran in those three races he’s just had up in Brisbane.
“Sure, he didn’t win, but every run was fantastic and against some horses who are expected to be in the TAB Eureka.
“If he gets a slot, he won’t just be competitive, he’ll be a winning chance with the right sort of draw and luck in running.”
